Things to Do in Meadville, Pennsylvania

Mayor Lord’s House Bed & Breakfast is centrally located two blocks from Allegheny College. It is within walking distance of downtown Meadville, the Crawford County Courthouse, and the Meadville Medical Center. Points of interest in downtown Meadville include a cinema, pubs, restaurants, the Academy Theatre and our historic Market House. Look online for detailed community resources as there have been many business changes and searching under your topics of interest is currently the best option.

Enjoy the many spaces available outside for reading, relaxing and enjoying the ambiance of a 1920's home. Mayor Lord's House guests are also welcome to come over to the the Carriage House grounds for Croquet, Bocce, Swimming, Birdwatching, Relaxing Reading or Eating (breakfast or dinner takeout) at one of the many "outdoor" spaces or in our Carriage House pool area. The exceptions to grounds/pool use would be if there is a private event booked for grounds or pool. In those cases event times would need to be respected and another time chosen. 

The Voodoo Brewery is one of the region’s most acclaimed breweries in Crawford County.  They offer a great atmosphere and terrific food as well as award winning brews in a quirky and fun atmosphere.  Menu is changeable and updated on Facebook. (Voodoo is an easy 6 block walk from Mayor Lord's House Bed and Breakfast.)

The Academy Theater was built in 1885 and was lovingly restored in the 1990s.  Each season at the Academy Theatre runs from October to June and includes five musicals which are performed on the Main Stage, three Spotlight Productions in the Hempstead Theatre, and numerous outside acts like comedians and concerts. (Academy Theatre is a 4 block walk from Mayor Lord's House Bed and Breakfast.)

The Hurry Hill Maple Farm Museum provides wonderful experiences where visitors can see, touch, taste, and listen to the past while learning about an important part of Pennsylvania’s agricultural heritage. The maple sugaring process, natural and cultural history, lore and legend are on display with entertaining events, educational activities and exhibits.

Through preservation, workshops, events, and tours, the Baldwin-Reynolds House Museum serves as an educational, cultural, artistic, and historic hub of learning for the community, region, state, and nation.

Enter the world of stereographic (three-dimensional) photography that captured the interest of generations, starting in Queen Victoria’s time.

Johnson-Shaw Stereoscopic Museum features photography of the Keystone View Company, of Meadville, Pennsylvania. Started in 1892 as a one-man business, the Keystone View Company grew into the world’s largest producer of stereographic materials. Keystone’s photographers covered the globe recording historic events.

Catch the latest cinema release at The Movies at Meadville. Tuesday is Bargain Day where regular movies are only $5 and everyone receives a free bag of popcorn!

Whispering Pines Golf Course is located near the shores of Conneaut Lake and features beautiful rolling hills, breath-taking views, and eastern white pines that line the fairways.  The 18-hole course creates a challenge for the serious golfer, but is fun for even the beginning golfer.

Experience the beauty of Pennsylvania by biking the Ernst Trail. This Rails to Trails local treasure is open dawn to dusk. One nearby trailhead is conveniently located off Route 322 between I-79 and Meadville Pa.  Additional trail heads that can be found on-line at ernsttrail.org and a new extension is underway bringing the trail right into the heart of Meadville - a true community treasure!

 Built in 1870, the Meadville Market House is Pennsylvania's oldest market house in continual use. Located in downtown Meadville, the Market House serves as a venue for sale of area produce and products, as well as a meeting place and a link between the town community and surrounding farms.
